David was a keen technical and policy contributor to both CVIAA and its Victorian chapter, CVIAV, for a number of years. His efforts to help improve the working and trading environment for businesses in this industry, both at a State and National level cannot be overstated and is greatly appreciated.  He will be sadly missed by those who worked with him.

The Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Australia welcomes Mr Clive Polley to the position of newly elected CVIAA President, and thanks outgoing President Mr Phill Hodges for his tireless advocacy on behalf of the CVIAA national membership.

The following submission is based on feedback provided by CVIAA members. It responds to the three key agenda points outlined in the draft strategy:

• create positive change in individual behaviours and culture to improve safety
• drive uptake of a modern, safer heavy vehicle fleet that reduces the likelihood and impact of
• crashes
• influence road network design to support safe heavy vehicle use.

CVIAA strongly supports a national approach to road transport and related road safety.

CVIAA recently responded to  the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications's discussion paper on Safer Freight Vehicles.
 

The Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC) welcomes the opportunity to respond to
the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) Discussion Paper on Agricultural
Machinery Aftersales Markets.
The VACC Farm and Industrial Machinery Dealers Association of Victoria (FIMDA) and Motorcycle
Industry Division (MID) represent approximately 400 Victorian based farm machinery and
motorcycle dealerships, aftermarket repairers and parts suppliers.

The Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Australia (CVIAA) is a national peak industry association that represents suppliers of parts, services, repairs, and modifications to the Australian heavy vehicle industry. The CVIAA is active in five Australian states and has approximately 1300 members.
CVIAA is the co-ordinating body for the Motor Trader Associations (MTA) in SA, NSW, WA, the TACC in Tasmania and the CVIAV in Victoria.

The National Transport Commission (NTC) today released updated Guidelines for trials of automated vehicles in Australia, which will ensure they remain fit for purpose as automated vehicle trials progress across the country.

The guidelines, a joint publication of the NTC and Austroads, were first published in 2017. Since then, trials of automated vehicles have taken place in every Australian state and territory. Trialling organisations and governments have found the guidelines a useful tool as they develop trial applications and operate trials.
